Bob Hoffman:
Back on The Blend this morning, we have Pat Brown who is the President of the Holt Dimondale Insurance Agency. Pat, always good to see you.
Pat Brown:
Bob, it’s good to see you from a distance.
Bob Hoffman:
Right. Pat, talk a little bit about maybe some success stories that you have seen during this quarantine time, especially in Holt where you’re at.
Pat Brown:
Small towns, quite often or frequently have get-togethers, they take care of their own, and one of the big successes that we had here is when we started having the stay-at-home orders, the formation of a task force from government, schools, business, Dimondale also, we put together the Holt, Dimondale, Delhi Township Community Task Force, that actually we have a Facebook page. We meet once a week on Zoom and we give updates on what is happening in our area so that we can pass information on, we can get stories of where we can get some help, where we can place some help, where we can get some volunteers, and it has emerged as a future endeavor if something happens like this again.
We meet once a week and the success has been just unbelievable. The stories of kids getting food, families getting food, seniors getting food, businesses that are winning some of these grants, keeping updates, food pantries, and so on. So we’ve been able to succeed in putting this group together, and I see it as a future for [inaudible 00:01:43].
If something happens again, we can call on that group to make it work.
Bob Hoffman:
Communication is key and it sounds like you’ve got a lot of communicators together. Tell me some of the stories that you’ve been hearing, maybe some
heartwarming stories, especially.
Pat Brown:
There’s a lot of money that’s being passed around from the government, the
PPP program. Three individuals, at least in our businesses in our area, we were fortunate to get one in the first round, Hayhoe Asphalt also got one, and so did Paper Image. So, pushing information out to those people as quick as we can so. they can get those applications in. Dart Bank has been instrumental in being the fiduciary for those loans and they work really hard to get those. So successes in our area have been great. Otherwise, our Business Alliance is also taking care of our first responders. We have hooked up with four of our businesses in Delhi Township to serve two purposes, allow the first responders get meals and the businesses to at least put some food on the table for them and some monies too.
